Roadmap
Here is roughly what is coming to ATDT, in roughly the order it is likely to arrive: chat channels, and eventually message areas shared between boards. There are no dates on any of it, on purpose.
Version 1.7.4 is the current release, and it is what the download button gives you.
ATDT is a hobby project. I am also writing a novel, working an executive job, and working on a PhD, so this gets built when there is time and the inclination to build it. That is the honest shape of the schedule, and it is why you will not find a single date below.
One room shared by every node is fine on a quiet board and chaos on a busy one. Channels are the fix, in the old AOL sense: several rooms running at once, pick the one you want. Plus the ability to pull one person, or a few, into a private channel of your own.
Message areas shared across ATDT boards, the way the old networks did it. A caller posts once on your board and the message turns up on every board carrying that echo. This is the big one, and it is why it carries a 2.0.
Three numbers, and each one means something specific.
A fundamental change to the board or its architecture. A feature big enough to change what ATDT is. EchoMail is one of these.
A major feature release. Something substantial arrives, and the manual grows a section about it.
Bug fixes between releases, and the occasional small feature that did not want to wait for the next big one.
Nothing on this page has a date. The mailing list is how you find out when something arrives.
Release news only. Never sold, never shared. One click to leave. Past issues and RSS if you would rather not hand over an address at all.
